E-News | Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing eventThe Research Office will host a networking event for WVU researchers across campus who are working in, or would like to collaborate with, research involving Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing on Sept. 2 from 1-2 p.m. Come meet your colleagues (virtually) and work towards building a larger collaborative group around this critically vital discipline and its related techniques.
Geospatial technologies have been an integral tool to WVU researchers since the mid-1980s. From Geography to Landscape Architecture and Health Sciences, knowing “what is where” is critical to understanding why location matters. Recently, advances in sensors and platforms such as unmanned aerial vehicles or drones have expanded capabilities and allowed additional issues to be addressed.
The event will showcase the work they have been doing across the state, region and nation to address critical issues of our time. Relevant areas may include but are not limited to environmental planning, environmental and natural resource economics, recreation, wildlife management, forest ecology and land and water reclamation.
